Right off the bat, my grade for this assignment will be a B-minus because I’m turning it in late. But summer just ended and I wanted to ensure I captured all the great and exciting activities that I did over the summer — all for your reading pleasure. So here they are with photos and more.
Chicago – Spider-Man exhibit
The Griffin Museum of Science and Industry located in Chicago took advantage of the summer’s biggest movie by hosting Marvel’s Spider-Man: Beyond Amazing — The Exhibition.
In addition to life-size Spider-Man figures, artwork and toys, the exhibit also featured the original pencil art used in The Amazing Spider-Man #305 drawn by Todd McFarlane.
Skokie – Aw Yeah Comics!
While in the Chicago area, I ventured to Skokie, Illinois, to see the home of the famous cartoonist Art Baltazar and his Aw Yeah Comics! comic book store.
Sadly, while not his store, Art Baltazar was busy working hard at his comic book art.
However, I did manage to admire Art’s amazing artwork that graced various utility boxes on the streets of Skokie. Just amazing!
FAN EXPO Canada
The Metro Toronto Convention Centre in Toronto, Ontario was chock-a-block with comic book and graphic novel creators. I had the great opportunity to visit with these wonderful, gracious folks to ask them about their work and their tools. Check out the video below and see for yourself.
At The Movies
Movie screens came alive with the maiden of might this summer as theatre-goers had the opportunity to see ‘Supergirl’ on the silver-screen. While some might argue that the movie didn’t live up to expectations, ‘Supergirl’ was entertaining and made an impact on many who actually took the time to visit a theatre.
Another summer super-hero movie that made a buzz was ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’. This movie broke a lot of records plus entertained folks all-summer long. You can’t go wrong with this film.
