Kate Beaton reveals cover for new graphic novel
In an Instagram post, Kate Beaton displayed the cover of her new graphic novel for young readers entitled Meatball: King of the Forest. Scheduled for release in March 2027 from publisher Tundra Books in Canada, the story of Meatball an indoor cat who escapes outside to be a wild cat.

Donald Calabrese discusses his latest graphic novel
In a podcast interview, Donald Calabrese chatted about his debut graphic novel from Conundrum Press entitled Coady. While offering insight into his influences for the ‘mytho-biography’, Donald also discussed his creative process along with his artistic tools used for the graphic novel.

Margaret Atwood’s For The Birds to see reprint in spring 2027
Magic Cat Publishing announced it will publish a newly illustrated edition of Margaret Atwood’s middle graphic novel For The Birds in spring 2027. Originally a Canadian release in 1990, the new edition will feature illustrations by Júlia Sardà, a new foreword by Margaret, and facts from renowned birder and broadcaster David Lindo.

Jade Armstrong announces new graphic novel
In an Instagram post, Jade Armstrong revealed that Magical Girl Burnout will be released by First Second on May 25, 2027. The write up includes a pull quote from the New York Times: ‘A nonstop delight’.

Derek Laufman to embark on first ever book tour in France
In a Bluesky post, Derek Laufman listed his itinerary for his first ever book tour in France. Lasting from October 4 to 11, Derek will be signing and promoting his recent graphic novels including Dans la forêt de Wickerson.

CCBC outlines 50 must-read Canadian young adult books
The Canadian Children’s Book Centre published a list of the 50 must-read Canadian young adult books. Notables on the list include:
– Age 16 by Rosena Fung (published by Annick Press)

David Stephens takes on Captain Newfoundland compendium
In a podcast interview, David Stephens spoke about the various, myriad of elements in the mix as he edits a compendium of Captain Newfoundland comic books. He said there’s more to the effort beyond the creation of the project just as Mike Feehan has produced the Captain Newfoundland documentary.
