Mariko Tamaki to write new Hello Kitty comic book series
Variety reported that Mariko Tamaki has been tasked with writing the new comic book series Hello Kitty: Hello World. Published in collaboration between Sanrio and IDW Publishing, illustrator Cody Lemieux will team up with Mariko for the series that is slated for sale on July 22.
Canadians on tap for Robert Kirkman’s next big thing
Direct from ComicsPro, Comics Beat reported that Robert Kirkman is planning a new superhero comic book series from Skybound entitled Terminal starting July 22. Canadian creators David Finch and Dave McCaig are joining forces with Robert for this new venture described as “a secret war being waged across the world by two violent forces with superhuman abilities who blur the lines between good and evil.”
Drawn & Quarterly signs up with Penguin Random House Publisher Services
Comics Beat wrote that graphic novel publisher Drawn & Quarterly is moving to Penguin Random House Publisher Services starting September 1. The article continues that the move to one of the biggest distributors in the United States also provides more opportunities in comic stores as well.
Sofi Escabasse announces new Witches of Brooklyn graphic novel
In an Instagram post, Sofi Escabasse announced that her new graphic novel Witches of Brooklyn: S’Witch Back will be available for purchase on September 1. The middle-grade graphic novel follows the witch-in-training as she takes on Manhattan in a story filled with magic and friendship.
Curt Pires to write Super Mondo Mega Mutts
Bleeding Cool reported that Curt Pires will be author the new four-issue comic book miniseries Super Mondo Mega Mutts from Oni Press. The article continued with a sales date of July 2026 and art by Juan Gedeon.
Joana Mosi’s Physical Education gets exclusive preview
AIPT Comics posted an exclusive preview of the upcoming graphic novel Physical Education by Joana Mosi published by Pow Pow Press. The write up attributes the release date to May 7 and reflects on the creative style as ‘a fluid, experimental style that brings to mind creators as varied as Jillian Tamaki (Roaming) and Nick Drnaso (Acting Class)’.
Stephanie Cooke heads up Beaches Bookfest
Beach Metro wrote about the five-week-long authors’ festival take place in the Beaches Starbucks in the Beaches area of Toronto, Ontario led by graphic novel writer Stephanie Cooke. The article explains ‘each sessions will feature a different Toronto author reading from one of their published works, followed by a question-and-answer period afterwards’.
Daniel Wong creates Mississauga museum comic book
Modern Mississauga promoted a new comic book created by Daniel Wong that highlights local stories about the Museums of Mississauga. Today Daniel will meet with attendees at the Benares Visitors’ Centre of the Benares Historic House Museum in Mississauga, Ontario who can receive a free copy of Legend of the Museum.
Simon Roy’s graphic novel makes AV Club’s March pick list
AV Club wrote about 5 new comics to reach in March including A Star Called The Sun by Simon Roy. The news outlet singled out noteworthy picks claimed Simon’s graphic novel to have stories that are “anthropological, biological, and philosophical, but ….feel personal and immediate rather than cold and distant”.
