Creators recognized at Canadian Jewish Literary Awards
The 2026 Canadian Jewish Literary Awards announced eight winning books with an awards ceremony planned for October 25 in Toronto, Ontario. Among the eight creators are the following notables:
– Danila Botha for Vidal (published by At Bay Press) in the Graphic Literature category
– Adam Policzer for The House Across The Street (published by Dirty Water Comics) in the Books for Children and Youth category

Dian Day and Amanda White nominated for sustainable story award
The official 2026 shortlist for the he World of Books Sustainable Story Award was just announced and Shy Cat and the Stuff-the-Bus Challenge was on the list. The graphic novel was written by Dian Day and illustrated by Amanda White. Listen to their podcast interview to learn more about this insightful book written for middle grade readers.

Canadian creators featured in new Adventure Time Deluxe Comics Library from Kickstarter
Oni Press and Warner Bros. Discover Global Consumer Products announced the exclusive Adventure Time Deluxe Comics Library Kickstarter campaign. Never to be made available in mass quantities anywhere else, the library includes six over-sized volumes collection more than 100 issues of Adventure Time comics featuring content from a variety of creators including the following Canadians: Brenda Hickey, Troy Little, Mike Holmes, Ryan North, Marguerite Sauvage and Mariko Tamaki. New York Public Library publishes Best Comics 2026 list
The New York Public Library announced their Best Comics 2026 list and Canadians made the list including:
– Closing Act by Chris W. Kim (published by Conundrum Press)
– Death Metal Duck written by Justin Heggs and illustrated by Cam Hayden (published by Black Panel Press)
– Everything Dead & Dying written by Tate Brombal (published by Image Comics)

Gareth Lind announces new graphic novel for 2027
While exhibiting at The Guelph Comics Jam, Gareth Lind revealed that his new graphic novel Best World is on track for readers in June 2027. During the event, Gareth promoted the first chapter of the graphic novel that focuses on Toronto residents dealing with life at the turn of the millennium.

Applications now open for 2027 Winnipeg Comic Arts Festival
Until December 1, exhibitors can submit their applications for the 2027 Winnipeg Comic Arts Festival. More details are available at https://winnipegcomicartsfest.ca/applications/. The event is slated to take place on Saturday, April 24, at The Forks Event Space. with free admission for attendees.

Indigo lists Best Kids’ Books of 2026
Indigo published the 100 best kids’ books for 2026 as selected by Indigo experts and Jr. Booklovers. Highlights on the list include: – The New Girl: First Crush: A Graphic Novel by Cassandra Calin (published by Scholastic)
– Kaboom! vol. 1: Blast Off by Jay Odjick (published by Scholastic)
– Once Upon a Tail: A Horse and Dragon Graphic Novel illustrated by Charlene Chua (published by Abrams Fanfare)
– Bear for Breakfast written by Robert Munsch and illustrated by Jay Odjick (published by Scholastic)

Amazon announces new Kindle ColorSoft
This week, Amazon revealed a new lineup of Kindle products aimed at a variety of audiences. Most pertinent to comic book and graphic novel readers is the Amazon Kindle Colorsoft 16GB. Major features include: thinner, lighter design, paper-like colour display, no glare in sunshine, and weeks of battery use. The Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition adds aluminium housing, 32GB of storage, auto-adjusting front light, double tap-to-turn pages, and a pogo pin dock for charging.
