Quebec comic book exhibition set for Belgium
Québec BD announced that “The Art of Comics Strip” exhibition will be entirely dedicated to Quebec artists at the Brussels Comic Art Museum celebrating the vitality of the international 9th art for the first time by hosting, for the duration of one year. The exhibition, featuring work by Michel Rabagliati, Denis Rodier, Julie Doucet, Juliette Miron, and many other Quebec artists was curated by Thomas-Louis Côté and Québec BD. Michel Rabagliati receives Order of Canada on Canada Day
During the official Canada Day ceremony, broadcast live on CBC TV, the Right Honourable Louise Arbour, Governor General of Canada, presented Michel Rabagliati with the Order of Canada. The award was presented to Michel for his contributions that have ‘made our country stronger, more inclusive and more dynamic’.
Jeff Martin to hold book launch
During his recent podcast interview, Jeff Martin said that he’ll plans a book launch for Hell Inc.: Afterlife-Time Employment at Audrey’s Books on July 9 at 7 pm in Edmonton, Alberta. The event, hosted by Adriean Koleric, will feature Jeff’s insight into making the book followed by a book signing.
CBC lists Canadian books for tweens and teens for the summer
CBC Books published a new list of Canadian books designed for tween and teen readers just in time for the summer. Among the notables are:

Karima Lacroix offers details about upcoming graphic novel
While speaking on a recent podcast interview, Karima Lacroix mentioned that her next graphic novel will be an homage to the One Thousand and One Nights tale. Karima said the book will incorporate Arabic and Persian motifs but with a modern twist with a focus on her childhood growing up in Canada.
Canadian comic book creators make must-read middle grade book list
The Canadian Children’s Book Centre published a list of the 50 must-read Canadian middle-grade books just in time for the organization’s 50th Anniversary. Among the many list of books are these notables from Canadian comic book creators:
– Haunted Canada Graphic Novel, vol. 1: Four Terrifying Tales (published by Scholastic Canada) featuring Joel A. Sutherland, David Bishop, Jenn Woodall and others
– Living With Viola (published by Annick Press) by Rosena Fung
– The Sockeye Mother (published by HighWaters Press) by Brett D. Huson (Hetxw’ms Gyetxw) and Natasha Donovan
– Stealing Home (published by Kids Can Press) by J. Torres and David Namisato
Nominate your favourite comic book store
Image Comics announced that nominations are now being accepted for the Image Select Retailer Award for Spring 2026 via an online form. The award was designed to recognize standout comic shop retailers and help lift the profile of comic shops deserving of recognition.
Megan Kearney announces book launch party
To celebrate her new graphic novel, Megan Kearny is hosting a book launch and signing for Corpse de Ballet on July 10 at Little Pebbles Cafe in Toronto, Ontario. Available for purchase on July 7, the title is Megan’s solo graphic novel debut and is described as a ‘fresh tale of dark academia and brutal competition’.
