Chip Zdarsky brings you The Muppets
Marvel announced via press release that Chip Zdarsky is writing a mashup entitled The Muppets Take The Marvel Universe. With a cover by Nick Bradshaw, Chip will join a host of other creators for the hilarious hijinks that hits newsstands on July 23.

Wes Craig brings Superman to life in new DC Black Label comic book
DC announced that Wes Craig will both write and illustrate a new DC Black Label comic book. Entitled Superman: The Stranger, the press release indicated that the six-issue comic book series will launch September 2.

J. Torres remains coy about his next project
While promoting the 20th anniversary hardcover deluxe edition of Love Is A Foreign Language, J. Torres offered very little insight into his next projects. Between NDAs and timing, he alluded to several upcoming comic book and non-comic book efforts and could only say that he’s ‘bursting at the seams’ to reveal the information. Maybe more below?

Jim Zub celebrates Robert E. Howard
In his latest newsletter, Jim Zub wrote about his recent trip to Robert E. Howard Days in relation to his writing for the Conan comic book series. He explained that the event wasn’t a convention in the traditional sense as we know it, but the gathering was more of a celebration of Robert E. Howard and the friendships created from sharing his stories.

Bailie Rosenlund planning for scary Star Trek
In an Instagram post, Bailie Rosenlund announced that she’s been working on Star Trek’s Holoween ll. She said this new spooky adventure Halloween special featuring her illustrated work focused on the Deep Space 9 crew that is planned to weekly publication starting this October.

Sweeney Boo also gets scary with DC comics
In an Instagram post, Sweeney Boo revealed that she is illustrating the cover for DC’s Quoth The Raven..Whatever #1. She wrote that the 80-page one shot issue will go on sale September 1.

Sarah Leavitt to host free comics class workshop
Returning from her Cannes Festival appearance for her graphic novel Tangles, Sarah Leavitt, University of British Columbia’s School of Creative Writing comics professor, announced plans to host a free comics workshop. The event is slated to take place online via Zoom on June 24 at 12 pm PDT.

Darcy Van Poelgeest to write new Doom Patrol comic book series
DC Comics announced that Darcy Van Poelgeest has been tapped to be the writer for the new Doom Patrol ongoing comic book series. With artist Nico Henrichon, Darcy will lead the 32-page debut issue, as part of DC’s Next Level initiative, set for publication on September 2.

Johnnie Christmas wins Chapter Book award for Gamerville
The graphic novel Gamerville by Johnnie Christmas has racked up another major award — the 2025-2026 Tiger Swallowtail Chapter Book Award. This award was voted on by all students from across the state of Virginia. Congrats!

J. Torres’ Teen Titans Go! gets the compact treatment
DC Comics announced the release of Teen Titans Go!: Truth, Pizza and Justice, written by J. Torres, as a DC Compact publication. Slated for sale starting June 29, 2027, the trade paperback joins a host of other DC Compact titles designed for young (and those who think young) readers. including Batman: The Dark Knight featuring art by Ty Templeton.
