The Center for Cartoon Studies announced the short list for the 2026 Cartoonist Studio Prize and Canadians made the list. Notables include:
Future Me Is Fat by Mollie Cronin (published by Conundrum Press)
Canon by Lee Lai (published by Drawn & Quarterly)

N.L. comic book store supports national online sales platform
CBC News reported that Downtown Comics, located in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, has joined with many other Canadian independent book stores in supporting Booksellers.ca — a Canada-wide online sales platform designed to rival web giants and major online retailers. In the article, Downtown Comics’ owner Kerri Neil offered her support for the platform as a solution for rural communities that lack their own bookstore.

Ramón K. Pérez to be feature creator at Mumbai Comic Con
In an Instagram post, Comic Con India announced that Ramón K. Pérez will be the featured comic book creator at Mumbai Comic Con. Ramón will offer insight into making comic books at the event that’s scheduled to take place May 9 to 10 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai.

New comic book store opens in Guelph, Ontario
Guelph Today reported on the opening of Long Box Silver’s Comics and Collectibles in Guelph, Ontario. The article featured store owner Craig Schenk who spoke about his background and his reasons for opening the store plus his love of comics that goes back to Spider-Man comic books.

Montreal Comic Arts Festival raises funds through extraordinary auction
In an Instagram post, the Montreal Comic Arts Festival announced an auction to raise funds while celebrating the 15th anniversary of the comic book festival. Some of the many auction items include:
