Here’s a round up of the latest news about Canadian comic book and graphic novel creators and supporters for Saturday, April 4, 2026

Canadians creators staying put this convention season
Insauga.com spoke with many Canadian comic book creators about their intention to stick close to home when it comes to 2026 comic book conventions and festivals. Creators such as Mike Rooth, Anthony Ruttgaizer, Ken Lashley, Mike Del Mundo, Fred Kennedy, and Ramón K. Pérez all voiced their concerns about current travel south of the border.

Ryan North takes on The Flash
DC Comics interviewed Ryan North as he’s about to begin as the writer for Wally West A.K.A. The Flash starting with The Flash #31. During the chat, Ryan spoke about his thoughts on the Speed Force, how to write a character like the Flash, why the story is about Wally West and not Barry Allen, how Wally relates to his hometown, how he will tackle the Rogues gallery and/or introduce new villains, and more.

Focus on the Prairie Comics Festival
Canada Council for the Arts wrote about the Prairie Comics Festival as one of the 2,150 recipients of the Supporting Artistic Practice grants. Sam Beiko was quoted saying: “We’re creating a space where artists thrive, audiences connect and the comic arts flourish.”

Michael DeForge launches All the Cameras In My Room
According to a post on The Beguiling website, Michael DeForge will launch his new graphic novel All the Cameras in My Room on April 24 from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Lillian H. Smith branch of the Toronto Public Library in Toronto, Ontario. According to the post, Justin Decioux (host of The Very Fine Comics Podcast) will host the event and lead the conversation with Michael as he discusses his new graphic novel.

Faith Erin Hicks in the spotlight
The Nerd Daily interviewed Faith Erin Hicks about her new graphic novel Inbetweens. Faith answered questions about what readers can expect, her inspiration for the story, her challenges to create the graphic novel and what’s next for her graphic novel plans.

Canadian books for younger kids this spring
CBC Books listed 30 Canadian books for younger readers that are published this spring. Notables include:
