Based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Veronica Post is an award-winning graphic novelist and multi-disciplinary artist. She attended University for Philosophy and Fine Arts, before moving to Montreal where she completed her studies in cabinetmaking, and discovered the DIY culture of self-published zines. She joined a zine distro and began creating comics, while following a path towards becoming a furniture-maker. Her path took a turn when she left Montreal for the allure of travel. She spent eight years exploring Canada, America and Eastern Europe, where she began working on what would become Fugitive Days and more recently Hot To Trot graphic novels . Her latest offering is a children’s picture book entitled The Bouncing Beet: A Rhyming Celebration of Ukrainian Culture. In addition to her graphic novel work, Veronica is co-organizer of the Dartmouth Comic Arts Festival otherwise known as DCAF.

The Dartmouth Comic Arts Festival (DCAF) is an annual event taking place in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia Saturday August 9 and Sunday August 10 at Alderney Landing. The two day festival kicks off Saturday with a mix of artist panels, hands-on workshops, and one-on-one portfolio reviews, will take place inside the Alderney Gate Public Library. From world-building and grant-writing to the benefits of comics in academia and education, the programming is designed to support emerging and established creators alike – and to welcome fans and curious newcomers into the comic arts community. On Sunday, attendees of Alderney Landing’s market space can discover artists, writers, publishers, and comic shops as they showcase and sell their work. Entry is free, and visitors of all ages are welcome.
