Taking place on May 9, at the Lions Park Arena, Brantford Comic Con is the ultimate celebration of comics, collectibles, cosplay, and pop culture in Brantford, Ontario. With over a thousand fans flocking through the doors, it’s become a must-attend event for enthusiasts of all ages. The convention brings together a fantastic lineup of talented artists, unique vendors, and passionate cosplayers, creating an unforgettable experience for attendees. Whether you’re hunting for rare comics, meeting your favourite creators, or showing off your latest costume masterpiece, Brantford Comic Con is the place to be.
Hailing from Brantford, Ontario, Steve McGinnis started illustrating at a young age, and his horror style appeared early in life, resulting in many trips to the school office for his parents. Steve was an artistic sponge, absorbing different styles from different mediums, while developing his own young style. After attending the College for Fine Art and Graphic Design, Steve had the unique opportunity to work under one of Canada’s leading photorealistic nature artists, Albert Casson, which helped sharpen his realism skills and drove home the importance of lighting and shadows. Steve’s work includes illustrating over 60 children’s books published worldwide. Steve’s works have been on the covers of most of the leading horror publications including Fangoria and movies such as concept character design for ‘Terrifier 2’, and illustrating the Terrifier graphic novels. Taking the leap from illustration to writer, Steve wrote and illustrated the first of three graphic novels titled Rise of the Harvester.

The story of Rise of the Harvester goes like this: “Samuel Troyer was different than other children in the small village of Brantwood — bigger, stronger, and a little odd — which made him an outcast and a loner. But when his father finds willing children for him to play with, Samuel’s dark side surfaces and new formed friendships end all too quickly. The townsfolk learn of the fruits of his darkness they seek their revenge by murdering and burying Samuel in an unmarked grave. Seasons pass and the townsfolk forget what they did. But Samuel’s darkness is much stronger than death. While the strange little boy is gone and forgotten, a new life is born called The Harvester. He’s hell-bent on revenge and teaches the people of Brantwood to never forget the old adage: ‘we reap what we sow’.”
