Chris W. Kim is a cartoonist and illustrator from Toronto, Ontario. He has worked for clients such as The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Walrus, Bloomberg Businessweek and The Atlantic, among others. His first graphic novel, Herman by Trade (SelfMadeHero), was published in 2017, followed by Strays (SelfMadeHero) in 2021, and Adherent(Conundrum Press) in 2023. His newest graphic novel is Closing Act published by Conundrum Press.

Closing Act begins with this story: “Lea walks her usual route through the city when a young man steals her bag. She chases him into an alley but quickly loses her bearings—each alley leads into yet another alley, the sounds of the city fade away, and the thief is nowhere to be seen.” The graphic novel examines the complex networks that make up a city and finds a strange, shifting environment within it, one where its inhabitants face a looming existential threat.
