Claire Lordon makes 2026 Texas Topaz Nonfiction Reading list
In a LinkedIn post, Claire Lordon announced that her graphic memoir One In A Million was selected for the 2026 Texas Topaz Nonfiction Reading list. The Texas Topaz Reading List provides children, teens, and adults with recommended nonfiction titles that stimulate reading for pleasure and personal learning.
Ivan Kocmarek shares Canada’s first comic book
In the latest episode of his ongoing video series about Canadian comic books and creators who made them, historian Ivan Kocmarek discusses Canada’s first comic book. Viewers will learn about Canada’s very first comic book Better Comics Vol. 1 No. 1 and its main creator Vernon Miller.
Canadians named winners in 2026 Broken Frontier Awards
Broken Frontier announced the winners of the 2026 awards and Canadians were included. Mariko Tamaki won Best Writer for This Place Kills Me (published by Abrams). Conundrum Press was awarded the Broken Frontier Hall of Fame.
Canadian creators get MAD
DC Comics wrote about MAD About DC going on sale April 1 as a 64-page one-shot that sends up DC characters as a ‘celebration of comics, chaos, and questionable decisions’. Led by guest editor Chip Zdarsky, the entry is chock-a-block with Canadian creators including Jim Zub, Ramón K. Pérez, Ty Templeton, Valentine De Landro, Ryan North, Mariko Tamaki, Riley Rossmo, J. Bone, Andrew Wheeler, Kagan McLeod, and many more.
Pop Culture Canada wins 2026 Canadian Choice Award
In an Instagram post, Zelpha Comics and Collectibles wrote that Canadian Choice Awards selected Pop Culture Canada as the Best Event Coordinator in the 2026 awards. The annual awards are designed to ‘shine a spotlight on the small and medium-sized businesses that power our nation’s economy, drive new ideas, and improve our communities.’
Graphic novels featured in Quill & Quire’s 2026 spring preview
Quill & Quire published a 2026 spring preview of short fiction and poetry. Additionally, the article included just some of the graphic novels planned for this year including:

Canadians help celebrate Eternals 50th Anniversary
Marvel.com wrote that a special one-shot entitled Eternals 50th Anniversary #1 will be published April 1 to celebrate 50 years of Jack Kirby’s cosmic vision and Canadians are onboard. Art and variant covers will be provided by Michael Cho and Dale Eaglesham.

Kris Bertin and Alex Forbes plan for The Secret Saucer Q&A

The event is scheduled to take place on January 27 at the Halifax Central Library at 7 pm hosted by Jed MacKay.
Short animated film celebrates 1st year of Pastime Comics
In web post, Srijayanth Saseendran announced that ‘Rex Cooper: Mission Mamba’ will be released on February 8 to mark the one year anniversary of Pastime Comics. As part of the promotion, the film revisits the first three issues through motion comics before transitioning into an animated sequence for issue #4.
