Richard Comely continues Captain Canuck tour on Victoria Island
Victoria News wrote that Richard Comely visited Victoria Island this past week as part of the Captain Canuck 50th Anniversary celebration to sign copies for attendees. The article includes comments from Richard about the origin of Captain Canuck plus a hint about next summer’s history book.
Kate Beaton gets a stamp
CKBW reported that Kate Beaton was honoured by Canada Post with her own stamp. The article features a photo of Kate posing with the oversized stamp along with quotes from Kate about her thoughts on the graphic novel as an art form.
Sweeney Boo announces pre-order of her new graphic novel
In a Bluesky post, Sweeney Boo said that new graphic novel Speak of the Devil is now available for pre-order online or at local bookstores. Slated for shelves on March 3, 2026, Sweeney showed off a pre-release version of the graphic novel, in both paperback and hardcover versions, that took over two years to create.
Canadian creators participate in DC’s 2026 compact comics
ICv2 posted an article about DC’s plans to publish more compact comics in 2026 and Canadian creators are onboard. Notables include:
– Francis Manapul along with Geoff Johns and Ethan Van Sciver for The Flash: Rebirth (March 17)
– Cameron Stewart and Brenden Fletcher with Babs Tarr for Batgirl of Burnside (July 7)
Kate Leth to sign Mall Goth in Halifax
In an Instagram post, Kate Leth announced a signing event slated for December 6 at Egghead books in Halifax. Kate mentioned that among the many items to be signed is Mall Goth – a graphic novel featured in a prior interview on this site.
Artsy Fartsy Comic Con lineup announced
On its website, the artist lineup for the free admission 2025 Artsy Fartsy Comic Con was announced. Taking place on Sunday, December 7, at the Tranzac Club in Toronto, Ontario, the lineup includes Andy Belanger, Aaron Reynolds, Adam Gorham, Anthony Ruttgaizer, Ricky Lima, Wordburglar, Vivi Partridge, Emilia Strilchuk, Larry Hancock plus Michael Cherkas, Andrew Wheeler, Vince Sunoco, Kevin Briones, Steven Andrews, Jeff Monk and Terry Gordon.
Kelly Bastow announces new book
In an Instagram post, Heavy Sweater Comics announced the new book from Kelly Bastow is now available from its webstore. Kelly’s new book entitled Fogged In is described as a new comic collection that “shines a light through the every day – navigating friendships, ADHD, self-doubt, and ultimately, teaching us to be kind to ourselves”.
RAID looks ahead to 2026
In a recent Substack post, RAID offered a hint of what’s to come in 2026. RAID Press is planning for a newly redesigned and expanded edition of Heroes of the Homefront with the new subtitle ‘The Creators’ along with an all-new companion volume The Comics that showcases more than 750 comics book comic covers from that same war-time era.
