Von Allan awarded grant for Wolf’s Head series
The City of Ottawa has awarded Von Allan a grant as part of the city’s 2025 Creation and Production Fund for Professional Artists. Von Allen is one of several artists and organizations who are funded through the program. The funding will support the ongoing production of the independent comic book series Wolf’s Head which has previously received City of Ottawa grant support. Michael Cho receives Inkpot Award at SDCC
In an Instagram post, Michael Cho announced that he received the Inkpot Award at the recent San Diego Comic Con. Comic-Con International’s Inkpot Awards are given to individuals for their contributions to the worlds of comics, science fiction/fantasy, film, television, animation, and fandom services. Canadians recognized for Eisner wins
As previously noted in last week’s news, Quill & Quire reported that Boum, Mariko Tamaki and Joshua Barkman all won at the 2025 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards. Darwyn Cooke’s Batman work to be collected
ICv2 wrote that DC plans to publish Batman by Darwyn Cooke: Absolute Edition with a sale date of April 7, 2026. The article reports that the 544-page hardcover will feature highlights from Darwyn’s efforts working on Batman including a gallery of covers, original art and essays from his collaborators. Aaron Reynolds announces book deal with major publisher
In a Bluesky post, Aaron Reynolds wrote that will has entered into an agreement with Penguin Random House for a three book deal. DCAF announces talks with professionals
On its Instagram feed, DartmouthComix announced a series of talks as part of the Dartmouth Comic Arts Festival. Angela Odusanya wins award for children’s book
In an Instagram post, Angela Odusanya announced that her book Amelia’s Loose Part Art – A Day At The Beach was given the Purple Dragonfly Book Award. Michael Cho outlines his art process for new Avengers book
AIPT Comics provided an exclusive look at Michael Cho’s creative design process for The Avengers in The Veracity Trap, co-written by Chip Kidd.
