MCAF announces 26th Bédélys Awards
A the 14th edition of the Montreal Comics Arts Festival, the 26th Bédélys Awards were announced. The awards celebration the most outstanding comic books published or distributed in Quebec in 2024. The winners include:
- Momm by Catherin (Pow Pow) won the Bédélys Québec Award.
- La bibliothèque enchantée T.1 : Le livre aspirateur by Jocelyn Boisvert and Enzo (Éditions Michel Quintin) won the Bédélys Youth Québec Award.
- Je ne suis pas un accident by Lucile Bernard won the Bédélys Independent Francophone Award.
- I, THE PEOPLE by Natacha Novem won the Bédélys Independent Anglophone Award.
- Quand la nuit tombe – Lisou by Marion Achard and Toni Galmès (Delcourt) won the Bédélys Youth Award.
- Impénétrable by Alix Garin (Le Lombard) won the Bédélys International Award.

Maurice Vellekoop gets summer exhibit at RAID
In an Instagram post, Maurice Vellekoop announced that the RAID Gallery will be hosting a summer exhibition of original illustrations of the Eisner-award nominated graphic novel I’m So Glad We Had This Time Together. Cole Pauls in the spotlight in Dawson City

On its LinkedIn feed, Toronto Comic Arts Festival announced that Kate Beaton will participate in an interview about her award-winning graphic novel Ducks: Two years in the Oil Sands. The post indicated the discussion will occur on June 5 at 7 pm the Library Lecture Hall (LIB-72) of the Toronto Metropolitan University. Ryan North returns from woods with news about The Thing

Chip Zdarsky says print will save digital comics

Johnnie Christmas and Swim Team win another award
On his Instagram feed, Johnnie Christmas posted that the graphic novel Swim Team is the 2024-2025 Louisiana Young Readers’ Choice Award winner. in the post, Johnnie thanked the 24,000 students in grades 6 to 8 who voted Swim Team as their favourite book out of the 82,663 books in the process. Stuart Immonen in the spotlight for Secret Identity
DC.com posted a restrospective of Superman: Secret Identity featuring the artwork of Stuart Immonen and written by Kurt Busiek.
