Fela: Music Is The Weapon received a nomination for the 2026 Eisner Awards in the category of Best Reality-Based Work. Created by Conor McCreery and Jibola Fagbamiye, Fela: Music Is The Weapon recounts the once-in-a-lifetime musical talent Fela Kuti and has been hailed as a ‘masterful, biographical graphic novel’.
Conor offered his thoughts on the nomination: “Jibola and I secretly hoped we might get a nomination, Fela’s story is REALLY powerful, but for it to actually happen? Totally unreal. A HUGE thanks to the Amistad and HarperCollins teams for seeing this 360 page monstrosity and thinking ‘Sure, why not? We’ll publish that.”
