Conundrum Press announces minicomic bursary
In an Instagram post, Conundrum Press announced that submissions are open for the MiniComic Bursary for Black and Indigenous Creators. With an application deadline of December 31, 2025, the annual bursary offers $1,000 to a Black or Indigenous person living in Canada for the creation and production of a mini-comic.

Kateri Akiwenzie-Damm recipient of 2025 Ivy Award
The Owen Sound Current reported the Toronto International Festival of Authors will present the 2025 Ivy Award to Kateri Akiwenzie-Damm. The award recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to Canadian publishing. In addition to creating graphic novels and more, Kateri is the founder and publisher of Kegedonce Press.

Aaron Navrady to host The Cold Fire art show
In a LinkedIn post, Aaron Navrady announced his first solo show of original comics pages from his original graphic novel The Cold Fire. The alert mentions that the event will take places on Thursday, November 13 at NVRLAND.ca in Calgary, Alberta. Doors open at 4 pm with an artist talk at 7:30 pm.

Million Podcasts honours True North Country Comics Podcast
Million Podcasts published a list of the Best 70 Graphic Novel Podcasts of 2025. Among the many notables is this very podcast and website. It’s very humbling to be among the many other very fine podcasts. Thanks to the team at Million Podcasts for the recognition and promotion.

Dave Cornelius interviewed by CTV News Saskatchewan
CTV News interviewed Dave Cornelius in the Saskatoon studios about his comic book series Shadow Tales. During the chat, Dave reveals the focus of the series about three squirrels with ADHD that break out of a zoo to battle villains. Dave is hopeful his series can encourage youth who may be challenged by ADHD.

Chip drops bombshell about Marvel Universe
Screen Rant spoke with Chip Zdarsky about how the new Captain America comic book series will impact the future of the Marvel Universe. In the article, Chip spoke about the consequences of the ‘One World Under Doom’ story arc and how that sets the stage for the future.

Quebec Writers’ Literary Federation awards include comic book creators
CBC Books published an article about the shortlisted authors listed for the Quebec Writers’ Federation literary awards. The recognition goes English-language writers in Quebec. Notables include:
– Cassandra Calin for The New Girl (published by Scholastic)
– Heather O’Neil and illustrator Arizona O’Neill for Valentine in Montreal (published by HarperCollins Publishers)
– Elizabeth Blanchard and illustrator Nancy King Schofield for The Bearing (published by Bouton d’Or Acadie)
– Monique Polak and illustrator by Valéry Goulet for Remember This: The Fascinating World of Memory (published by Orca Book Publishers)
