Here’s my chat with Kagan McLeod about his illustrative work in preparation for exhibiting at Toronto Comicon 2025.

Kagan McLeod is an illustrator and comic book artist based in Toronto, Ontario. Kagan is known for expressive brush drawing in ink, watercolour and acrylic-gouache. He’s had illustrations published in a variety of magazines, including GQ, Cosmopolitan, Time, People and Reader’s Digest, as well as newspapers The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post and The Los Angeles Times. In comics, Kagan is known for his book Infinite Kung Fu, and Chip Zdarsky’s Kaptara. He also worked on IDW’s Cobra Kai comic. In 2019, Penguin Random House published his instructive drawing book Draw People Every Day. Kagan also created the end credits to the Disney-Marvel TV show ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’ featuring his illustrations.

Kagan and Chip Zdarsky join forces to provide fans with the conclusion of their beloved science fiction series and follows Kaptara Volume 1: Fear Not Tiny Alien. Kaptara Volume 2: Universal Truths, from Image Comics, is the story of astronaut Keith Kanga, trapped on the planet of Kaptara, who is trying to find his way home, but a planetary war is really messing with that.
