Thought Bubble is the Yorkshire Comic Art Festival taking place Saturday November 16 and Sunday November 17 at Harrogate Convention Centre in Yorkshire. The event is designed to promote the power of comics with the belief that comics can inspire, educate and bring people together like no other medium.
And to get you ready for the event, that is if you happen to be attending the convention, here are some previous conversations with the Canadian creators who’ll be at Thought Bubble showing their wares.
Ivana Filipovich
Ivana Filipović/Ivana Filipovich/Ивана Филиповић, is a Serbian-Canadian artist with a background in educational media, architecture, archaeology and design. She is the winner of the 2023 Doug Wright Award for the best self-published/micro-press book in Canada for her career-spanning collection of short literary comics Where Have You Been, available on Amazon.
Marcus To
Marcus To is a New York Times bestselling illustrator and storyteller who lives in Toronto, Ontario. Throughout his career Marcus has drawn virtually every modern superhero, having worked on Red Robin, Huntress, X-Men, Avengers, Flash, Wonder Woman and Star Trek. He is currently the artist on X-Force at Marvel Comics and Time Waits for DSTLRY. He is a proud member of the RAID Studio and more of his work can be found at http://www.marcusto.com.

Chip Zdarsky
Chip Zdarsky has written many books for Marvel and DC, including Batman, Daredevil and Spider-Man: Life Story. For Image Comics he’s the writer of Newburn and the writer/illustrator of the award-winning Public Domain, but may be best known as the illustrator of Image Comics’ Sex Criminals, an Eisner-winning series and NYT Bestseller. His latest project, with co-writer David Brothers and artist Marcus To, is Time Waits for the publisher DSTLRY.

Emilia Strilchuk
Emilia Strilchuk is a comic artist and writer, born and raised in Ukraine, and migrated to Canada about 10 years ago. She currently resides in Ontario with her partner and two cats. Emilia takes inspiration from her personal experiences and from the world around her to create artworks that can be relatable and can bring people some joy and comfort. She’s created a zine called Gently — a sketch collection and gentle tips for artists and creators. With projects in the works entitled Oriana: The Forgotten Deities and Second Half, Emilia’s latest graphic novel is her autobio graphic novel Be Yourself! Oh, not like that…

Danesh Mohiuddin
Originally from Hyderabad, India, Danesh Mohiuddin is based in Toronto, Ontario. He studied art at Sheridan College. Danesh has produced illustration work for Gulf News, Scholastic, Time Out and more. He continues to illustrate humorous ad campaigns, card games, designing toys, drawing university maps, doing graphic facilitation, comic books and more. His future projects include graphic novel for Kids Can Press and a children’s book for Owl Kids. Danesh is featured in the new R4ID KLAATU anthology. His most recent work is Mummy & Me: A Monster’s Tale.

Adriano Ariganello
Adriano Ariganello, a native of Toronto, is a comic book aficionado who graduated from a film school that’s now a pizza restaurant. He’s been writing short stories, screenplays and comic books for over 20 years – finally hitting his stride in the past few. When he’s not writing, you can find him strapping on skates and hitting the ice like any good Canadian. Adriano is a writer of crowdfunded comics, such as Brad(s), Unlimited Udo, and Stay Cool for which he was nominated for the 2023 Sequential Magazine awards in the categories of Best Comic and Favourite Letterer. His latest project is Crazy Latte Thing Called Love available through Kickstarter. His latest project is Big Smoke Pulp: Vol. 1 on Kickstarter.
