We continue with the report on Toronto Comic Arts Festival in Japan 2017 by chatting with Marcus To.
Marcus is a Toronto-based artist and illustrator whose previous work includes Soulfire and DC’s Red Robin and Huntress, plus Marvel’s New Warriors and Guardians of the Galaxy. And he’s the co-creator of Joyride. Marcus is also a member of the Royal Academy of Illustration and Design, or R.A.I.D. studio, in downtown Toronto.
During our chat, Marcus gives his insight about his recent trip with others to Japan as part of the TCAF adventure including Kaigai Manga Festa or Tokyo International Comic Festival, the Tokyo Comic Con, the response from the event attendees, comparisons to the North American comic con scene, his take on Japanese comic shops, the influence of comic illustration in the culture, and the richness of the cosplay scene.
