
Oni Press releases trailer for Jay Stephens’ Dwellings
Beginning this summer, the multiple Eisner and Harvey Award-winning publisher Oni Press will publish Dwellings, a bi-monthly limited series from Emmy Award-winning animator and Eisner Award-nominated cartoonist Jay Stephens (Tutenstein, Jetcat Clubhouse). Each of Dwellings’ three oversized, prestige format issues will be 72 pages and will include two complete tales. Oni Press released a brand new trailer for the spooky series.
Peter Ricq’s Once Our Land in development at Mercury Filmworks
Animation Magazine interviewed Chief Content Office Heath Kenny about the 25th anniversary of Ottawa-based studio Mercury Filmworks. During the conversation, Heath mentioned a future project set in 1830’s Europe, Once Our Land — a fantasy/sci-fi animated family feature based on the graphic novel by Peter Ricq. Marvel details the upcoming X-Men’s Fall of X lineup of books featuring Canadian creators
Kicking off next month, the upcoming Marvel X-Men’s Fall of X books scatters mutantkind across the globe and beyond. Marvel published an article outlining the stories, a new map teaser and cover reveals for September. Canadian creators involved in this project include Ed Brisson, Leonard Kirk, and Yanick Paquette. BOOM! Studios announces Adam Gorham to provide art for R.L. Stine’s new book
According to a press release from BOOM! Studios, author R.L. Stine will join forces with Adam Gorham and others for a new, self-contained story in the bestselling, adult horror comic series Stuff of Nightmares in STUFF OF NIGHTMARES: RED MURDER! IDW to launch new Star Trek Picard series with Canadian creators
TrekMovie.com featured news from IDW about a new series entitled Star Trek: Picard’s Academy to launch this September. The article reported that the new ongoing series about a young Jean-Luc Picard will be written by Sam Maggs. The cover for issue 1 will be provided by Sweeney Boo. Blake Northcott named Editor-in-Chief of Massive Publishing
Massive Publishing (home of the Whatnot Publishing imprint) issued an announcement naming author, comic book writer, and screenwriter Blake Northcott as Editor-in-Chief. Blake is widely known for her written work at DC Comics, Dynamite Comics, Aspen Comics, Heavy Metal Magazine, in additional to her editorials for Mark Millar’s label, Millarworld. Michèle Laframboise wins Prix du livre d’enfant Trillium award
According to insauga.com, judges have awarded Michèle Laframboise with the Prix du livre d’enfant Trillium honour. Michèle won for her book Le secret de Paloma (Éditions David), a suspenseful adventure novel for children. The Trillium Book Award, now in its 36th year, has a long tradition of recognizing literary excellence, and promoting the diversity of Ontario writers and their work. DC Comics announces list of books for Batman Day featuring Chip Zdarsky

After a brief hiatus, I’ve decided to venture back into the realm of Canadian comic book creator promotion. I took some time off to do some thinking and review my approach to reporting on this topic.
