Jack Briglio’s Top 10 Comic Books and Graphic Novels

True North Country Comics Presents Jack Briglio's Top 10 Comic Books and Graphic Novels

True North Country Comics presents the top 10 go-to comic books and graphic novels from Jack Briglio.

Jack is the writer of the Eisner-nominated fantasy adventure series Growing Up Enchanted. We’ve seen Jack’s work in Scooby-Doo and Legion of Superheroes in the 31st Century, The Adventures of Digger & Friends, Sesame Street Comics for Sesame Street Workshop and True Patriot Comics with his Dominion Jack character. He’s also organized Flip anthologies.

Here’s Jack Briglio’s top 10 go-to comic book and graphic novel list:

Nexus by Mike Baron and Steve Rude
“A sci-fi space opera by Mike Baron and Steve the Dude Rude about an executioner who dreams of serial killers and murderers, forcing him to eliminate them to be at peace. What’s not to love about this concept, never mind the diverse and rich characters in this world?”

Starman by James Robinson and Tony Harris
“A superhero series by James Robinson and Tony Harris about legacy and family that was one of my inspirations for my superhero series, Dominion Jack.”

Daredevil Born Again by Frank Miller and David Mazzuchelli
“Sure, everyone talks about other Miller fare like Dark Knight Returns or Batman Year One but this superhero noir about revenge rises above them all. I wouldn’t mind seeing a Frank Miller and David Mazzuchelli reunion today!”

Silver Surfer by Dan Slott and Mike Allred
“Dan Slott and Mike Allred’s space opera love story. A topical series that played with a lot of interesting and innovative ideas, one of my relatively current industry faves.”

Vision by Tom King and Gabriel Walta
“Tom King’s best series so far, with artist Gabriel Walta. He turned a Vision suburban family drama into ‘Breaking Bad’…and made it work without feeling like a copycat to that series.”

Zot by Scott McCloud
“Scott McCloud’s Earth Stories are some of the best YA superhero stories ever told. Really, Understanding Comics and The Sculptor some be on this list too, but 10 is such a small number!”

Swamp Thing by Alan Moore with Steve Bissette, John Totleben and others
“Sophisticated suspense…and the one Alan Moore DC run that deserves more attention than it gets. Horror doesn’t get better than this. Well, his Providence was also very good…”

Sleeper by Ed Brubaker and Sean Philips
“Before Criminal, Ed Brubaker and Sean Philips did Wiseguy in the Wildstorm Universe…and pulled off superhero crime noir brilliantly.”

Mind Mgmt by Matt Kindt
“Matt Kindt’s psychic spy series is half-Jason Bourne and half-The Prisoner. The result? 100% excellence. “

Moonshadow by JM DeMatteis and Jon J Muth
“One of the best coming of age fantasy fairy tales I’ve ever read.”
