Here’s the latest news about Canadian comic book creators and supporters
Newsarama interviewed writer Anthony Del Col about his new limited series The Death of Nancy Drew slated for stores on April 1. When asked about how to bring the Nancy Drew character to modern day audiences, Anthony said: “Despite the new CW series, most people still think of Nancy Drew as a “goodie-goodie” girl from an earlier era. So, when I sat down to, as you describe it, “re-create” their characters, I realized I wanted to put them into a new style of genre, one that would give them a little more edge and make them more relevant to today’s readers. And that’s when I conceived of creating these stories in a hardboiled noir. I first came up with my take with the IP owners Simon & Schuster (and licensing agent Moxie Co) before Riverdale had been announced, and years before the new CW series. I told them I wanted to create a story in their world unlike any that had come before – and especially with this series, I think that’s very apt.”

Newsarama reported on the Daredevil Annual #1 special targeted for May from Chip Zdarsky. According to Chip: “This is more than an Annual. It’s a pretty essential part of the title that needed its own oversized issue to properly tell the story. I hate to pull out the ‘Everything Changes’ card, but this particular story radically affects Daredevil and Wilson Fisk, going back decades.”
