Manfred is the published author of numerous articles, as well as two children’s works, a history book, and an educational guide on the use of comic books and experiential learning for parents and teachers. With over 20 years of teaching in his background, Manfred is also a Director of the Comic Book Project in Canada.

During chat, Manfred talked about the Comic Book Project and the role that comic books can play in education in general.

Here’s some of the current news about Canadian comic book creators and supporters.

The Kitchener-Waterloo Record interviewed Alfonso Espinos, the founder of Studiocomix Press, as he celebrated the first birthday of the comic book store that is also printer and publisher. The article quoted Alfonso saying: “You gotta start somewhere…Nobody starts out selling 50,000 copies. Every artist has a different definition of success.” You can read more at TheRecord.com

Although the Eisner Awards won’t be announced until July 19 2019 at Comic-Con in San Diego, the judges for those awards were named this week. One name on the list who’s been on this podcast is Jenn Haines, owner of the comic book and games store The Dragon.
