Allison is a freelance comic editor and she was previously the editor of Wayward Sisters: An Anthology of Monstrous Women and Toronto Comics Anthology Volume 3.

Safiyya is a PhD student in Communication with research interests including Muslims, gender, comics and popular culture. She is also a fiction writer having contributed to the Yonge at Heart Toronto Comics Anthology.

Called Into Being: A Celebration of Frankenstein coincides with the 200th anniversary of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. This 100-page, black and white zine celebrates Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and its legacy through comics, essays, and illustrations.

During our chat, Allison and Safiyya talk about how the book came to be and the plans for the Kickstarter project.
