Dave Cornelius chats about his graphic novel ‘Shadow Tales’

True North Country Comics Podcast chats with Dave Cornelius about his graphic novel 'Shadow Tales' and more.

Welcome to the True North Country Comics Podcast — dedicated to celebrate Canadian comic book and graphic novel creators and supporters.

On this episode, I chat with Dave Cornelius about his graphic novel Shadow Tales and more.

Hailing from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Dave Cornelius wasn’t allowed to buy comics as a kid. But that didn’t stop him from reading his friend’s comics, usually Punisher and Conan, on the bus to school. Flash forward to 2021, when Dave’s career took a turn — he decided to pour his love for writing stories into the comic book medium. After an eventual visit to the zoo, where his nephew commented on the antics of squirrels and their frantic commotions — an ongoing all-ages comic was created called Shadow Tales.

Shadow Tales asks the question ‘Have you ever been to a zoo and seen squirrels running in and out of every cage?’ Now what if those squirrels were special agents with ADHD (Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder). Shadow Tales is the story of three ADHD squirrels who become special agents to break animals out of a zoo.
