In celebration of the comic book creators exhibiting at the 2022 Toronto Comic Arts Festival, here’s my chat with Edo Brenes about his graphic novel Memories From Limón. This podcast is available on Apple Podcasts and Google Podcasts. And the podcast is also available on YouTube. Please like and subscribe to that video channel.

Edo is from Costa Rica and studied Animation at Veritas University, Costa Rica. He followed that with a Masters Degree in Animation and Design at the University of Sunderland. Edo has worked as a lecturer at Veritas University and the Cambridge School of Art. He lives on a secluded tropical beach in Costa Rica with his wife, children’s book illustrator Yoss Sánchez. His current graphic novel showcased at TCAF 2022 is entitled Memories From Limón from Nobrow.

Memories From Limón is described as the story of “Ramiro who leaves the British drizzle and his beloved fiancé Yoss to investigate his family history back home in Costa Rica. What starts as an innocent fascination with an old family photo album leads to conversations with the older generations and revelations he is not prepared for. Set on the idyllic Caribbean coastline of one of the most beautiful countries in Latin America, the story weaves together the heart breaking and humbling stories of three generations of the same family. Love and life is a struggle in paradise, welcome to Limón”.
