Comic book creator Ronn Sutton talks about Bernie Wrightson, Elvira, Hells Angels and more

Ronn is a freelance artist from Ottawa, who’s worked in comic, animation, illustration, and other related fields. Having drawn several hundred comic books over the past four decades, Ronn’s work also includes a nine year stint illustrating nearly 50 issues of Elvira, Mistress of the Dark for Claypool Comics.


During our chat, Ronn talked about his early days in comic books, meeting Bernie Wrightson and other greats, along with his work on Elvira, Mistress of The Dark, plus his efforts in animation and much more.

Here’s some of the current news about Canadian comic book creators and supporters.

Vancouver-based artist Sean Karemaker will be at the Seymour Art Gallery promoting his recent graphic novel Candy Bar, Electric Lights. The exhibition reception takes place on January 19 from 2 to 4 pm. Sean will talk about his work on February 2 from 2 to 3 pm, and there’s a virtual reality experience on February 16 from 2 to 3:30 pm. The exhibit runs from January 12 to February 23.More information is available at

Global News reported that London Comic Con has found a new venue. Taking place this October, the London Convention Centre will be the location of the sixth annual pop culture and sci-fi expo. According to Andrew Kitt, president of London Comic Con: “We’re feeling great about this move. The venue is fantastic.” You can read more on

Drawn & Quarterly announced that Aminder Dhaliwal, known for her widely recognized Woman World, will be speaking on a panel at the Los Angeles Public Library Studio City branch on Saturday January 12 from 3 to 4:30 pm. The panel will be moderated by Tina Lerno, chair of the ALA Great Graphic Novels for Teens committee. You can read more at
