During our conversation, Nelson explained the details behind his new Kickstarter project The Gathering Place and offered insight into the various Toronto artist profiles that make up the anthology biography. Nelson also discussed the varied artistic methods that he’s employing to create the Kickstarter book.

Here’s some of the current news about Canadian comic book creators and supporters.

Diamond Comic Distributors announced it has signed an exclusive distribution deal with Bedside Press. The deal means that Beside Press products will be distributed exclusively to comic book specialty stores markets worldwide. The Bookseller published a report about DC Entertainment launching DC Ink and DC Zoom imprints in the UK this spring. Although previously announced for North America, this new broader distribution of DC titles will reach even more young readers. Among the various books is DC Super Hero Girls: Spaced Out illustrated by Agnes Garbowska slated for May and Harley Quinn: Breaking Glass written by Mariko Tamaki scheduled for June. AV Club reviewed Naomi #1 written by Brian Michael Bendis featuring art by Jamal Campbell. Jamal’s been a constant fixture in New Books section of the site by contributing cover art and more for many titles.
