True North Country Comics presents Jenny Chen’s top 10 go-to comic books and graphics novels.

Jenny is a designer, illustrator, and 2D Animator who is fuelled by cups of tea! A designer for cartoons by day and a comic artist known as Mikochi by night (and weekends.) Mikochi is the creator of Life Happens, a slice of life series where things happen.

Here is the top 10 go-to comic books and graphic novels from Jenny Chen:

According to Jenny: “I enjoy many comics and manga in different ways, so it was quite difficult for me to choose a top ten ( they’re all so amazing!) But here are my current list at the moment. I hope some readers can find something that vibe with them!”

1. Death Note by Tsugumi Ohba (writer) and Takeshi Obata (Illustrator)
“Despite my indecisiveness in choosing my top ten, I think Death Note will always be my personal favorite. I started watching this anime in high school and then later picked up the manga cause the atmosphere, art, and story was just so good! Each page of the manga was like eye candy. The line art and layout were just incredible. The whole series gets a personal *chef’s kiss from me. If you are into psychological thriller and mind games, I really recommend this.”

2. Doraemon by Fujiko Fujio
Doremon is a personal nostalgia trip for me. The comics are slice of life adventures filled with imagination. They can be picked up and enjoyed at any part of the series and are just a chill and fun time.”

3. The God in the Field by VVBG
“This is a beautifully illustrated rendition of a story between Hades and Persephone told with a LGBTQ+ twist. I love the delicateness of the art, story, and set up of this webcomic. The whole story looks like visual poetry to me and I always come back for more.”

4. What’s yours is mine by Littlekidsin
“I loved Pucca as a kid, so when I saw this fan comic of the series, I jumped to it! And boy, was it incredible through and through! I have so much love for the art and the treatment of the lines and movements. The story was super cute and well told, just a very enjoyable read!”

5. The girl that can’t get a girlfriend by Mieri Hiranishi
“I recently started reading this and the stories are just so well told and incredibly entertaining. They are hilarious, pure, and I always click at the speed of light when there is a new update.”

6. RandoWis by RandoWis
“This comic is hilarious with great comedic timing and awesome, AWESOME art (I know, I am a sucker for incredible art.) Also them facial expressions are just *chef’s kiss.

7. We live in an MMO?! by RandoWis
“By the same artist as number six. Same thing, incredible, INCREDIBLE art, fantastic story and timing, and just a really enjoyable read.”

8. Stutterhug by Samantha Davies
Stutterhug is a good and wholesome time. They are SO cute, cuddly, and an instant pick me up!”

9. Boyfriends by Refrainbow
“Another series that I recently started reading. This one explores polyamorous relationships (which I’ve personally never seen in comics before.) The stories are very cute and wholesome (most of the time hahah XD) and the style is just gorgeous and a real treat!”

10.Any story by Junji Ito
“I may possibly put any of Junji Ito’s manga higher, if I weren’t so scared to read more of them hahah. They are just so impactful and the art and stories really hit that unsettling spot. His work are always just incredibly effective…I just wish I had more guts to consume more of them XD”
