While the first day of Comic-Con @Home traditionally starts off slowly, there were some notable events.
Although not actually part of the Comic-Con @Home, the cast of ‘Scott Pilgrim vs The World’ had a table reading along with the comic book creator Bryan Lee O’Malley. During the session, Bryan drew several scenes from the movie that were auctioned off to raise funds for Water for People, a global nonprofit that provides communities with sanitation solutions and clean water.

Darcy Von Poelgeest took part in the panel entitled “Comics As A Conduit”.
Darcy joined a panel to discuss comic books that tackle real world issues including environmental activism, civic engagement, physical and mental health awareness, and more.
Darcy spoke about his latest graphic novel Little Bird soon to be available as a trade paperback. He also encouraged librarians to recognize readers of all ages and types in libraries and support their needs.

Faith Erin Hicks joined a panel about New Kids Comics from Eisner Award Publishers. She talked about the role that libraries play in regard to comic books for kids.
