Andrew is an avid writer of adventure, fantasy and science fiction. His most recent book Sidescroller takes the best of video game nostalgia and delivers a novel filled with laughs, thrills and entertainment.

The Hollywood Reporter announced that a new Care Bears comic book is launching summer. The new comic book series starting in July from IDW Entertainment will be illustrated by My Little Pony and DC Super Hero Girls artist Agnes Garbowska. Agnes hinted about this WonderCon news during her recent interview with True North Country Comics at C2E2. Agnes was quoted as saying: “I am extremely excited to be working on Care Bears since it was such a huge part of my childhood and impacted me greatly. I hope the series brings the same love and joy to new fans as it did for me.”

Animation World reported that Disney’s Freeform will be animating the award winning Woman World graphic novel by Aminder Dhaliwal with Felicia Day in the producer role. Freeform has announced plans to enter into animation with a new brand campaign unveiled earlier this week during its second annual summit. You can read more at AWN.com
Maclean’s interviewed Vancouver artist Renee Nault about how she turned Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale into a graphic novel now available for sale. Renee was quoted as saying: “I really wanted to pare down to the colours assigned to people’s social positions. Gilead is such a rigid, role-based society, and the novel has so much to say about gender roles as seen through women’s perspectives, that the first thing anyone notices about anyone else is what colour they’re wearing.” You can read more on Macleans.ca
Image Comics announces that the Eisner award-winning creative team behind Descender will launch a new fantasy series this April. Jeff Lemire and Dustin Nguyen will team up yet again for the Ascender series. Jeff was quoted as saying: “Dustin and I love the world of Descender and we’re re-energized by this new direction, which has opened all sorts of new storytelling possibilities for us. Ascender will feel like a continuation of the Descender saga and like a brand new book all in one.” You can read more at Image Comics.com
CBC News reported about Mike Feehan winning the GLAAD award for outstanding comic book series for Exit Stage Left: The Snagglepuss Chronicles. While appearing at Sci-Fi on the Rock, Mike was quoted as saying: “I’ve been completely blown away by the response and the amount of attention it’s got and the sales that we’ve had. It’s just been really cool to be a part of it, and also it’s cool to be part of something that seems to really mean something to people.” You can read more at CBC.ca
