Focus on: Megan Kearney

Throughout the month of March, True North North Country Comics features female comic book creators and supporters to celebrate International Women’s Day.


Today the spotlight shines on Megan Kearney.


Megan is a sequential artist and writer. In addition to her award-winning adaptation of Beauty and The Beast, Megan is a regular contributor to the Disney Princess series and manages Toronto-based Comic Book Embassy, an energetic co-work studio that is home to some of the city’s top indie talent.

As mentioned in yesterday’s focus on Hope Nicholson, Megan attended San Diego Comic-Con last year with signings, panel events and parties to promote her work on Hitblog: Comics That Caught Fire.

Megan manages the co-work studio Comic Book Embassy. Founded in 2012, the collective is located in the heart of Chinatown in Toronto and is the home to a group of illustrators and comic book enthusiasts, as well as the location of Ty Templeton’s Comic Book Bootcamp.

Recently, Megan wrapped up her seven years creating Beauty and The Beast webcomic. It was announced that preorders for volume three are currently underway for the print edition that will feature updated and edited artwork plus liner notes and bonus material. The title is anticipated to be available mid-May,

Although Megan has yet to announce her plans for the remainder of the year, you can bet that she’ll be at the major conventions meeting fans and continuing her creative work.
